James E. Moore
Jim Moore has been with the Moore, Rasmussen, Kading and Kunstle Law firm for more than 50 years. Mr. Moore was born in Stanton, Nebraska. Mr. Moore graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1950 earning his Juris Doctor. He left his practice for a year to attend New York University earning a LLM in taxation in 1952. Mr. Moore was admitted to the South Dakota State bar in 1950. Mr. Moore concentrates his practice in Federal Income, Estate and Gift Taxation Law; Wills, Trusts and Elder Law, and Real Estate (Property) Law. He mainly practices in the eastern South Dakota Area dealing with many local clients. Jim has three wonderful children who have gone on and established themselves in different careers. He feels blessed by his four grandchildren and enjoys spending time with them as well as spending time out on the golf course.
Laird Rasmussen - Retired
Laird Rasmussen practiced law for over 50 years. Mr. Rasmussen was born in Clark South Dakota. He attended the University of South Dakota and received his Juris Doctor in 1950. Mr. Rasmussen was an experienced lawyer. He was a member of the Second Judicial Circuit (President 1978-1979), the American Bar Association and The State Bar of South Dakota. Mr. Rasmussen concentrated his practice in Probate Law; Real Estate; and General Civil Practice. Laird has a wife and five sons all married, and fourteen grandchildren.
William D. Kunstle
William D. "Bill" Kunstle has been a partner of the Moore, Rasmussen, Kading, and Kunstle Law Firm for over twenty years. Bill was born and grew up working on the family farm in the Gettysburg, South Dakota area. He is a proud graduate of Gettysburg High School (1972), the University of South Dakota (B.A. Mathematics and Computer Science, 1977) and the University of South Dakota School of Law (J.D. 1980) Mr. Kunstle started his legal career in Canton South Dakota in 1980 where in addition to his civil law practice he worked as a part-time Deputy State's Attorney for Lincoln County. Mr. Kunstle is a seasoned litigator with considerable experience in civil jury trials representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Bill is a member of the Second Judicial Circuit Bar Association, The State Bar of South Dakota, the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, The American Association for Justice, The Defense Research Institute and The South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association. Mr. Kunstle concentrates his practice in Personal Injury Law; Professional Negligence Law; and Insurance Defense Law. He has litigated cases throughout the state South Dakota. Bill enjoys spending time with his family. He likes to participate in outdoor activities which include boating, swimming, fishing and hunting. When time permits Bill likes to read and play guitar.
Scott Kading
Scott Kading, partner at the firm, is a second generation attorney at the Moore, Rasmussen, Kading & Kunstle Law Firm. His father, Russell, was a partner until his death in 1997. Scott has upheld his father's excellence and dedication to the law. Mr. Kading was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended the University of South Dakota where he received a Bachelors of Science in 1981. He went on to acquire his Juris Dctor and M.B.A. in 1984. Mr. Kading is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota, the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and the Second Judicial Circuit (President 1994 - 1995). Mr. Kading concentrates his practice in the areas of Personal Injury law, Domestic Relations Law and Criminal Law. Scott is active in the Washington Senior High Booster Club and enjoys working out, as well as spending time with his wife Lori and their two daughters.
Samuel Goodhope
Samuel Goodhope, partner at the firm, was born in Lake Preston South Dakota on November 5th 1967. He is a graduate of the University of South Dakota from which he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1990. Mr. Goodhope went on to earn his Juris Doctor in 1993. Mr. Goodhope is an experienced trial lawyer. He is currently a member of the State Bar of South Dakota; South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association and has served on the Trial Lawyers Board of Goveners. Mr. Goodhope concentrates his practice in Personal Injury; Construction Litigation; Criminal Law; and General Civil Litigation.
Bryan R. Hedman
Bryan R. Hedman, partner at the firm, was born in Brookings South Dakota. He attended South Dakota State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota in 1985. Mr. Hedman later earned his L.L.M in taxation from the University of Florida in 1986. Mr. Hedman is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota and is experienced with many area's of tax and buisness law. Mr. Hedman concentrates his practice in Federal Income Tax; Federal Estate and Gift Taxation; Business Planning; Estate Planning; Probate. He practices in many area's across the state of South Dakota. Bryan has a loving wife and four great children with whom he enjoys spending time.
Stephanie R. Amiotte
Stephanie R. Amiotte, partner at the firm, is a graduate of the University of South Dakota where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a Psychology minor in 1997, and her Juris Doctor in 2000. Ms. Amiotte is an experienced trial attorney practicing in both state and federal court. She is currently admitted to the State Bar of South Dakota, the Second Judicial Circuit and the South Dakota Federal District Court. Ms. Amiotte serves as the South Dakota Representative of the Federal Criminal Justice Panel, serves on the Federal Rules Committee and the South Dakota Criminal Justice Panel Plan Revision Committee. Ms. Amiotte served on the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Board of Governors and was selected by the American Trial Lawyers Association as one of the Top 100 Trial Attorneys in South Dakota. Ms. Amiotte concentrates her practice in Personal Injury, Federal Criminal and Civil Litigation and Workers' Compensation.
Lyndsay E. DeMatteo
Lyndsay E. DeMatteo is an associate attorney at Moore, Rasmussen, Kading & Kunstle. Ms. DeMatteo graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in May 2005. Ms. DeMatteo previously obtained her B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, in 2002 from Valparaiso University where she was a Scholar of Christ College honor student, receiving the Dean's Distinguished Student Award and Presidential Scholarship. Ms. DeMatteo is admitted to the South Dakota State Bar (2006), Illinois State Bar (2005) and the Second Judicial Circuit Bar. Ms. DeMatteo concentrates her practice in the areas of Domestic Relations, Criminal Defense and Workers' Compensation. Ms. DeMatteo and her husband, Luke, reside in Sioux Falls.
Laura Brahms
Laura T. Brahms, associate attorney, graduated from Augustana College in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and international affairs, minoring in English and philosophy. She graduated from the University of South Dakota Law School with her Juris Doctorate in May 2009. Ms. Brahms received three C.A.L.I. awards for excellence in Criminal Procedure, Business Associations and Children and the Law, served as the Vice-President of the R.D. Hurd Volunteer Society and participated in the trial team competition organized by the American Association for Justice. Ms. Brahms is admitted to the South Dakota State Bar (2009) and the Second Judicial Circuit Bar. Ms. Brahms practices in the area of family law, criminal defense, and general civil practice. Ms. Brahms and her husband, Brandon, reside in Canton, South Dakota.
